The Importance of Aromatherapy for Spas and Clients

Kerri Nau, Head of Spa Americas at Aromatherapy Associates, offers insight into how aromatherapy can benefit spas and their clients:

Aromatherapy is a natural method of first aid that we can look to evoke shifts on our emotional, as well as, physical wellbeing. Aromatherapy can be incorporated within all areas of the spa. We are seeing a huge demand for the use of essential oils not only within our spa treatments and treatment rooms, but throughout all areas and touch points on properties. From the reception area, to the washrooms, relaxation spaces, and thermal areas - atomizers, mists, and candles can be introduced to enjoy the benefits of different essential oils blends.

Essential oils are a holistic way of supporting our physical body and emotional state by either entering into our bloodstream and filtering throughout all of our tissues and cells via absorption or awakening areas within our brain that govern our endocrine system, nervous system, and our emotional ‘control center’ via inhalation. There are so many options when it comes to essential oils, the level of support is really endless -- sleep health, reducing anxiety, uplifting moods, relieving aches and pain, clearing the respiratory system to name a few.

Today’s consumer is looking for human touch and relief from massive global shifts affecting our daily lives. De-stressing is certainly a common conversation we’re having over and over again. Whether it be mental/emotional de-stressing, physical relief or a bit of both, our Unwind & De-Stress Treatment has been on heavy rotation.

UNWIND & DE-STRESS AA

Time 60, 90 minutes

Reduce anxiety, calm scattered thoughts, and improve mental health and focus. Chamomile and frankincense are found to calm and uplift while a traditional aromatherapy massage targets symptoms of stress. A blend of chamomile, petitgrain, and rosemary helps to calm and cleanse your thoughts, while an Ayurvedic scalp and facial massage relieves anxiety and emotional exhaustion. Perfect for a troubled mind, this is an effective treatment any time of day to unwind and give you physical relief.
