Grand Velas Riviera MayaSpa is offering a new Wellness Lunar Massage ($191, 90 minutes) that taps into Moon Cycle & Personal Intentions. The massage is offered poolside and uses oils from the Mexican wellness brand Agave Spa and the spa therapists apply individual oils to each location on the body based on the oils intention. The wellness treatment starts with the spa's Mayan welcome ceremony based on the Earth’s four elements - water, fire, earth, and air. It is then followed by aromatherapy according to the moon cycle, which changes four times per month.
Oils used include:
- Here and Now: Geranium and marjoram is used on the head to understand that the moment is now.
- Love: Rosemary, jasmine, black pepper, and red pepper symbolizes goodness and compassion and is used on the chest and the heart.
- Passion: Made with cashmere wood and musk is used on the stomach area.
- Prosperity: A mixture of relaxing, laurel and peppermint and reduces fear, depression, and anxiety, is used on the legs.
- Protection: A healing herb blend of marjoram, oregano, cilantro, anis, and black peppercorn, is used on the back.
