Three Tips for Making that Winter Mani Last Longer

It's no secret your clients are going to want perfect nails this holiday season, so we spoke with the experts for some tips on how to make sure we get the most out of our manis. Here's what you and your clients need to know for making their holiday nails last:

  • “Cold air can cause brittleness, dry and cracked cuticles, and breakage. Fight all these battles with a strengthening base coat and cuticle oil. But not just a daily dose of cuticle oil, I'm talking regularly throughout the day. As well, to prolong any manicure, reapply topcoat every two days to freshen the shine and re-stabilize the manicure. Thinner topcoats are best for this.”—Rita Remark, global lead educator, Essie

  • “Always moisturize. Moisturizing cuticles with an oil helps keep nails looking and feeling healthy and will help prevent any additional cracking.”—Taylor Daniel, brand namesake, Morgan Taylor Professional Nail Lacquer

  • “Set up a regular regimen of care before the parties start. Have the appointments pre-set in the books from Thanksgiving through New Year’s, which is the season when time melts, but need rises.” —Jan Arnold, cofounder and creative director, CND
