Kerstin Florian International Celebrates 40th Anniversary

From starting out as a single-room spa in Laguna Beach, CA, to distributing more than 100 products from a 20,000 square foot headquarters, Kerstin Florian has much to celebrate on the 40th anniversary of her namesake company. On May 19, 2018, Kerstin Florian International will celebrate 40 successful years in the skincare industry.

Florian moved from her native Sweden to Southern California in the 1960s. The move from Europe to America showed Florian the vast differences in skincare ingredients used between the two continents; almost instantly she realized that U.S. skincare products were lacking not only in natural ingredients but also effective results beyond moisturizing. 

“When I started out, there was no natural spa skincare market to speak of,” says Florian. “I knew the difference natural ingredients could make to the skin, and how that translates into a feeling of beauty and self-acceptance that radiates from within. My products are really vessels for wellness and selfcare. That is what has kept people coming back for 40 years.”

After starting her career developing spas and salons throughout California and Arizona, Florian finally opened her own facial studio at the Surf and Sand Resort in Laguna Beach in 1978. In the years to come, she would inspire clients with her take on outer beauty and inner health, offering nutritional counseling, meditation classes, and facial and body treatments that reflect her four core lifestyle practices: proper nutrition, regular exercise, peace of mind, and care of the face and body. While teaching her clients how to live overall healthier lifestyles, she also experimented with the natural ingredients she wanted to incorporate into her spa treatments. Over time, Kerstin Florian International went from hand-labeled products sold out of one spa to an award-winning skincare brand sold in spas across the globe. Today, Kerstin Florian products are distributed to more than 200 resort and day spas in 35 countries worldwide.

The company will be celebrating the milestone with a social media tribute; various online and in-person events, initiatives and giveaways; commemorative products and regimen kits; and personal appearances by Florian throughout the year.

“We have never stopped evolving and finding ways to keep the energy flowing,” says Florian. “So, look forward to many more to come.”
