Meet the Winners of GSN Planet's 2019 Sustainability Awards

GSN Planet (GSN) has announced the winners and runners-up of its 2019 Sustainability Awards. The Transformation in Sustainability Award was given to three recipients: a property or spa, a brand, and an individual, all of whom utilize sustainable practices that are healthy for people and planet; save or preserve natural resources; utilize sustainable materials; and/or implement innovative and groundbreaking techniques, services, or programming.

“We are very proud and encouraged to see the sustainable initiatives coming from the brands and companies in the spa and wellness industry,” says GSN board president Bonnie Baker. “The companies and individuals nominated for our Sustainability Awards are all leading by example in the innovations and practices they are implementing in their businesses and their company cultures. These are the change makers in how we interact and shape the future of our world, moving the conversations from sustainable to regenerative, and shifting the focus from short-term gain to long-term benefits.”

An independent judging panel comprised of experts in the sustainability, spa, and wellness industries evaluated and awarded companies and individuals that are leading the way in social and environmental responsibility. Judges for the awards, which featured GSN Foundation board members, included Tara Grodjesk, president and owner of Tara Spa Therapy and GSN cofounder; Jim Cheveney, CEO of Living Earth Crafts and GSN emeritus board member; Rianna Riego, founder of Rianna Riego, LLC; Mary Tabacchi, Ph.D., professor at Cornell University and Global Wellness Summit board member; Neal Herman, president and chief operations officer of Las Catalinas; Bonnie Baker, cofounder of Satteva Spa and Wellness Concepts and GSN board president; and Jessica Gilden, GSN business manager.
