Moroccanoil and Beauty Changes Lives, a 501c3 nonprofit that provides aspiring beauty professionals with mentorship and scholarships, recently announced and opened applications for the Moroccanoil Courage to Dream Scholarship and the Moroccanoil Cultivating Confidence Scholarship. All students enrolled in a qualified cosmetology program are eligible to enter, and the scholarships provide tuition gifts that go towards the recipients’ education. Five $5,000 scholarships will be awarded in 2020.
“These scholarships celebrate individuals’ confidence to move boldly toward achieving their career goals—often in the face of significant obstacles—and the confidence that beauty and wellness professionals champion in their clients,” says Lynelle Lynch, president of Beauty Changes Lives. “We are honored that Moroccanoil is calling attention to the courage and confidence that are hallmarks of professionals working in the beauty and wellness industry.”
The Moroccanoil Courage to Dream Scholarship was created to honor students who overcome obstacles on their beauty career path. A panel of judges will evaluate applicants’ videos, in which students are expected to share their definitions of courage and a time in their lives when they demonstrated great courage. The Moroccanoil Cultivating Confidence Scholarship honors those who use confidence to power their clients’ lives as well as their own. Students will be chosen for the scholarship based on a video in which they are expected to discuss how they channel confidence, what resulted from that confidence, and how they plan to support the confidence of others throughout the rest of their studies and subsequent careers.
“We are excited to further empower and invest in the salon community by partnering with Beauty Changes Lives to provide five incredible students with scholarships to advance their careers,” says Carmen Tal, Moroccanoil cofounder. “These efforts, coupled with our new Moroccanoil Academy, showcase our commitment to social responsibility and elevating the art of hairstyling. We are excited to see what this next generation of stylists can accomplish.”
Both scholarship applications are open now through May 31, and then again September 1 through November 30, 2020.
