First Looks: Miraval Opens Second Wellness Destination in Texas

Nationally acclaimed Miraval spa and wellness group has opened its second wellness destination in Texas. Set on 220 acres overlooking Lake Austin, Miraval Austin is the Hyatt wellness brand’s first resort to open outside of its flagship property in Tucson, AZ.

“We are incredibly proud to open Miraval Austin as we embark on an exciting period of expansion at Miraval,” says Marc W. Ellin, global head of Miraval Group. “For over 20 years, Miraval has been dedicated to inspiring total mind, body and spirit wellness by offering guests authentic experiences rooted in mindfulness.  As we open Miraval Austin, we look forward to welcoming Miraval’s loyal guests, as well new audiences to experience the fulfillment, pleasure and growth that come with a Miraval experience.”

The property features the Miraval Life in Balance Spa at Miraval Austin, designed by renowned spa designer Clodagh. The 20,000-square-foot spa draws inspiration from the area’s surrounding Balcones Canyonlands Preserve, creating a serene environment that promotes relaxation, balance, and a sense of wellbeing. The spa boasts 30 treatment rooms, a spa pool, relaxation rooms, a salon, sauna, steam room, and a retail boutique.

In true Miraval fashion, The Life in Balance Spa at Miraval Austin is offering a number of exclusive and bespoke products and treatments. The spa partnered with acclaimed organic skincare company Laurel to create a petal pecan mask inspired by the on-property farm. The pair has also created an exclusive spa treatment, the Spiritual Warrior Facial (50 minutes, $185; 80 minutes, $275), that utilizes energies of plants and gemstones to provide guests with a spiritual facial journey.

In addition to offering a selection of Miraval Arizona’s most sought-after spa experiences, the Life in Balance Spa at Miraval Austin offers a series of innovative treatments that push boundaries and bring new meaning to the concept of farm to treatment table. Highlights include Pranayama-ḍīna (50 minutes, $285), a transformative experience that combines the power of breathwork with a floating massage, and Wild Harvest Herbal Healer (80 minutes, $275), a celebration of nature and community in which guests pick herbs from the farm to be used in a luxurious massage.

For those looking to open their mind, body, and soul, Miraval Austin has acquired a team of highly regarded specialists to design an extensive menu of integrated wellbeing offerings that span fitness, yoga, meditation, culinary, nutrition, and art. Wellness activities include a variety of yoga and meditation classes, slacklining, archery, hatchet throwing, and a number of fitness classes at the 5,600-square-foot Body Mindfulness Center, which features Technogym equipment and a fitness studio for classes such as cardio drumming, Bosu Blast, and spinning.

The resort’s 117 guest rooms feature a soft, neutral color palate to create a restorative atmosphere. In keeping with the Miraval brand’s ethos, the rooms have been designed to enhance guests’ sleep experience with Miraval bedding, black out shades and sleep-enhancing amenities, including Miraval’s signature cell phone sleeping bag. Each room will also feature a selection Zents' all-natural bath amenities in large-format, reusable bottles to further reinforce the brand’s commitment to sustainability.

American Spa will be at Miraval Austin exploring the resort's grand opening this weekend. Stay tuned to American Spa on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for the latest from Texas.
