Going with the Grain at Aqlla Spa at Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel

Aqlla Spa's Deep-Hydration Cleansing Facial uses quinoa to prevent premature aging of sensitive and dehydrated skin.

Tapping the nutritional benefits of indigenous quinoa, Aqlla Spa at Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel (Aguas Calientes, Peru) recently introduced the Deep-Hydration Cleansing Facial with Quinoa ($53, 45 minutes) to help prevent premature aging of sensitive and dehydrated skin.

Estheticians rely on Yelavé Nature, a Peruvian product line. The three-step facial incorporates a cleansing and exfoliation using an emollient-rich milk and natural extracts of aloe, honey, rose, and quinoa; a honey and quinoa mask; and a highly moisturizing honey and quinoa cream. Guests are also treated to cookies made with oats and natural grains.

Says general manager Angie Clavijo, “Drawing upon Peruvian traditions going back millennia, the Deep-Hydration Cleansing Facial with Quinoa helps our guests protect their skin and look their best while in the dramatically beautiful Andes experiencing one of the great attractions of the world.”
