Learn How to Better Your Business By Becoming a Tuel Skincare "Pore Star"

Estheticians and spa owners looking for a little more guidance on how to run their business need not look further than Tuel Skincare’s Pore Star Club. Helmed by sisters Lisa and Lori Nestore, Tuel is a clean, vegan, skincare and esthetics company that provides cruelty-free botanical skincare for all skin types. Besides developing products and running their own business, the duo set out to do more than just sell products, they wanted to empower women to become business-savvy entrepreneurs.

After years of witnessing individual spa owners and estheticians struggle, Lori Nestore, who oversees the sales side of the brand, began assisting Tuel estheticians. Once those businesses began to grow, Nestore realized the value in offering her sales expertise to professionals. She sought to teach these important business skills to more aspiring spa professionals. The sisters launched the Pore Star Club in order to provide training and resources for spa owners and practicing estheticians. The Pore Star Club provides training designed to teach spa professionals how to run their businesses by covering helpful business tactics, specific treatment techniques, client conversation starters, and the art of upselling.

“When your job is working alone, we need outside encouragement and feedback to be focused and enthusiastic,” says Lori Nestore. “The better we get at supporting our clients the faster they are financially independent.”

Not only does the Pore Star Club offer immersive educational experiences, but it also offers one-on-one training as well. According to the brand, the Pore Star Club has helped over 300 individual spa owners and estheticians achieve their business’s goals. After completing a questionnaire about your business and its needs, the Tuel team sends a Tuel Pro Trainer (who is also a salon owner) to participate in on-site evaluations of the business. In these three-day deep dives, the Tuel Pro Trainer and spa owner work together to re-vamp the business to ensure operations run smoothly. Topics discussed include client management, employee retention, marketing, and back bar fundamentals.

Following the completion of the one-on-one training, professionals are invited to participate in the five-day immersive training at the Tuel headquarters in San Leandro, CA. Led by Tuel director of education Pati Geraghty, members participate in breakout sessions, treatment demos, and educational discussions pertaining to all aspects of running a spa business. Pore Club Members then join a Tuel Facebook group that allows professionals to connect with each other and learn more about their products and the Pore Star Club educational experiences.

“As spa pros and estheticians, we get the people side of the business; how to care for them, how to perform treatments,” says Lori Nestore. “More challenging for many of us is the financial and logistical side of the business, which is critical to success.”
