The Serenity Spa at Las Terrazas Resort (Ambergris Cayes, Belize) is offering four new facials that all chocoholics will love, just in time for National Chocolate Day on October 28. Made completely with locally-grown Belizean cocoa, these chocolate treatments will hydrate, regenerate, rejuvenate, tone, and soothe in every session. Each treatment is $115 for one hour and includes a mask application, an explanation of its benefits, cleansing, and a 20-minute head massage.

Although most people know it for its sweetness, chocolate has many health benefits due to its richness in antioxidants and vitamins. Simply eating this tasty treat, in moderation of course, can improve your mood, brain function, and lower your blood pressure. Applying it to your skin, however, has even more benefits. It can function as a moisturizer, a skin brightener, an anti-aging agent, a pore cleanser, and can even alleviate acne.

Looking to celebrate National Chocolate Day at your spa? Follow these instructions to replicate the Mayan Cocoa Facial wherever you are:

Ingredients:

-½ oz of Chocolate (70-90 percent cocoa)

-1 tbsp of olive oil

-1 egg yolk

Directions:

Heat the chocolate in a bowl over warm water until it’s melted, then mix in one tablespoon of the liquid chocolate with the olive oil and egg yolk in a separate bowl. Apply this mixture to your face and neck, and let it sit for 20 minutes. Once your skin has absorbed its beneficial properties, rinse it off with lukewarm water.
