Due to the COVID-19 restrictions which prevent people from leaving the house unless for essential purposes, RealSelf—an online resource for cosmetic treatments—has launched a new virtual consultation feature. Having originally planned on launching this feature later on in the year, current circumstances led the company to an earlier launch date. With over 600 doctors to choose from, patients now have the ability to find doctors and schedule video one-on-one appointments.
To find a doctor offering this feature, cosmetic doctors will appear as “active” and their profiles will state “virtual consultations accepted.” From there, users will need to click “get a consultation” where they will then need to fill out a short questionnaire about their chosen procedure. Patients will then be connected to the doctor to schedule a day, time and video platform to use. Doctors will also let patients know if costs will be associated with the consultation.
Founder and CEO of RealSelf, Tom Seery, is excited about this new feature and hopes to make connecting patients and doctors with one another easier. “RealSelf virtual consultations make it easy for our community members to find, contact, and meet with a doctor–all from the privacy of their homes,” says Seery. “Now more than ever, patients and doctors see mutual value in virtual connections. While we originally planned to release this feature later in the year, we expedited the launch to support our community as they adjust to a new normal.”
Looking towards the future, Seery plans on potentially incorporating more virtual solutions for patients and doctors to improve and enhance the cosmetic treatment search experience. In anticipation, RealSelf has already started testing new tools and features for the future.
