The Beauty Changes Lives Foundation and Amazing Lash Studio, the country’s largest eyelash extension franchise and beauty brand, recently awarded more than $11,000 in scholarships to esthetics students. Five students each received $2,250 to but towards their esthetics education thanks to the 2018 Beauty Changes Lives Amazing Lash Scholarship Competition. The winners, listed below, were announced earlier this year at Amazing Lash Studio’s National Franchisee Conference.
Recipients of the scholarship include Daniela Beckett of Upper Arlington, OH, a student at the Aveda Institute-Columbus; Sierra Childs of Round Rock, TX, a student at the Aveda Institute-Austin; Marceyanna Marshall of Inkster, MI, a student at David Pressley School of Cosmetology; Cassandra Schulz of Austin, TX, a student at the Aveda Institute-Austin; and Imani Simon of Lexington, KY, a student at Summit Salon Academy.
Applicants are judged by a panel of industry professionals on the following criteria: creativity, innovation, communication, and confidence. Applicants must supply a video, essay, or storyboard explaining why they are deserving of the scholarship.
“According to data from the International Spa Association (ISPA), there are more than 30,000 job openings in the professional spa industry,” said Lynelle Lynch, Beauty Changes Lives Foundation president. “By funding this scholarship, Amazing Lash is shining the spotlight on a very fulfilling career path and helping employers attract talent with the skills and knowledge necessary for long-term success.”
Heather Elrod, CEO of Amazing Lash Studio, agreed with Lynch, stating, “the demand for esthetics professionals continues to grow, and we are excited to help equip and empower future estheticians to take advantage of this rewarding career path.”
