Secrets From the Treatment Room: Muddy Mess

“While visiting St. Lucia a few years ago, I opted for a wrap involving mud from the island’s famed Sulphur Springs. I had heard a lot of locals rave about the mud, and I was excited to try it for myself. Unfortunately, my therapist was less than thrilled with my choice. In fact, she was downright surly. Not wanting me to dirty the in-room shower, she directed me back to the locker room to rinse off before returning to the treatment table. There I was, covered head to toe in mud, wrapped only in a towel, making my way through the spa, back to the locker room, leaving a trail of mud in my wake. In the end, I think it would have saved her both time and trouble had she just let me wash off in the shower located a few feet away. I can only imagine how long it took to clean up the muddy mess I left.”—Heather Mikesell, executive editor, American Spa
