Expert Aesthetix's Proven Tips to Making Skin Appear Younger

With all of the saturation of the skincare market these days, it can be difficult to determine which products and ingredients are really worth trying. If your clients are feeling overwhelmed with skincare options and aren't sure where to begin, Shannon York, medical director at Expert Aesthetix, suggests reminding them to go back to the basics. Much of skincare comes from our physical and mental health, in addition to what topical treatments we use. Here are York's simple and proven tips to help clients reduce signs of aging.

1. Eat Right

As the common saying goes, “you are what you eat.” If you eat junk, then your body will also produce junk such as fat and cellulite which can make you look older. In order to retain the youth in you, be sure to eat healthy foods.

2. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Soda, energy drinks, alcohol, and artificial juices—ditch them now! Water is indeed the holy grail. It flushes down toxins in our body plus it’s cheaper than most of the other drinks that you can think of. If you don’t like drinking water because it doesn’t have any taste, you can opt for infused water which is healthier than artificial juices.

3. Estheticians are the Skin's Best Friend

It's time to debunk the myth that facials are a  “no pain, no gain" service. Washing alone only cleanse superficial dirt, but dirt which is harder to clean requires professional care. The truth is that having regular facials can at least save the face from comedones that can make the skin age faster, and the more your clients come in for facials, the less extractions will hurt each time. York suggests taking a simple cleansing facial one step further by adding a peel, which can make the face smoother as well.

In retaining younger looking skin, doing only one method will not give you the best results. If you just simply focus on buying creams, no matter how expensive it is, will not be a guarantee that you will get the result that you have been looking for. Retaining your younger looking skin requires maintaining your healthy body to radiate the effect to your skin.
