Indigenous Indulgences Take Over Cabo Spas

The subtropical landscape of Cabo cultivates a wide array of plants that thrive in the unique desert landscape. It also provides access to a range of powerful native ingredients that local spas are integrating into their treatment menus in enticing ways.  

Local ingredients like Baja lime, mango, and papaya are used in many of the body treatments at The Spa at Esperanza at Esperanza, an Auberge Resorts Collection. Another highlight is the Damiana Alegre ($670, 2 hours 30 minutes), a couples’ treatment that includes an amaranth exfoliation, a private soak, a massage, and a beverage made from damiana, a wild Mexican shrub.  

Nopal cactus takes center stage at The Spa at Las Ventanas at Las Ventanas al Paraiso, a Rosewood Resort. The Nopal Detox Desert Wrap ($380, 2 hours) uses locally grown nopal cactus and includes an exfoliation, a nopal mask, a massage, and body wrap, and concludes with a nopal-pineapple smoothie. 

Using oils, exfoliants, wraps, and teas handmade from desert herbs, The One&Only Spa at One&Only Palmilla features Ancient Mexican Remedies ($680, 3 hours), which consists of a copal and aromatic herb smoke bath. It starts with a purifying foot wash and is followed by an exfoliation with sea salts and desert herbs, a warm body wrap and massage with aloe vera, a facial cleansing and moisturization, and a tea made with cactus. 

At the Eforea Spa at Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort, guests can experience the Agave Tzolkin Ritual ($185, 90 minutes), the Mexican Herbal Poultice Massage ($180, 80 minutes), the Xoco-Tequila Native Experience ($185, 80 minutes), and the Nopal Detox Cure ($185, 80 minutes).  

Native-inspired treatments are abundant at the Milagro Holistic Spa at Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa with services such as Mezcal Therapy ($200, 1 hour 50 minutes), which incorporates mezcal lime and chaya, and Mayan Massage ($150, 50 minutes), which offers a fusion of a special ancient Mayan practices to balance the body and mind. 

Beginning with a Mexican blessing, the Baja Sensorial Journey ($751, 2 hours 30 minutes) at Spa Montage Los Cabos at Montage Los Cabos continues with a relaxing foot bath ritual and body mask followed by an exfoliation and herbal rinsing ritual.
