Hashani Spa at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa (Tucson, AZ) recently introduced poolside full-moon beer meditations ($20 in advance, $25 at the door). Available to resort guests and the public, the monthly meditation takes place in the spa’s private saltwater pool.
Participants enjoy a craft brew from locally owned Crooked Tooth Brewing Company while either floating in the pool or sitting poolside. “About two years ago, Julie Vernon, who leads the meditations, and her husband, Ben, signed the lease on the property that would become Crooked Tooth Brewery,” says spa director Marissa Bernal.
“As we were celebrating this moment, we began to brainstorm ideas on how to incorporate the medicinal properties of beer with spa, as it has been used as an aid in meditation for centuries—Tibetan monks are well known for this. We fell in love with the idea of creating a ritual and bringing together meditation, the full moon, and the saline lap pool.”
