Secrets From the Treatment Room: Oil Slick

"While I'm all for the hydrating and restorative properties of oil, I once received a gemstone massage from a therapist who was a bit overzealous with her application techniques. The treatment started with that turned out to be a very thorough dousing of massage oil, which was supposed to be followed by the careful placement of gemstones along my chakra points. Unfortunately, I was slippery from head to toe that the gems slid off me, bounced on the floor, and skidded under the treatment table, sending my therapist to her knees looking for the errant stones. It was not quite the serene experience I was expecting, though it provided an excellent opportunity to partake in the healing benefits of laughter"—Julie Keller Callaghan, editor-in-chief and publisher, American Spa
