8th Annual Global Wellness Day Celebration Goes Virtual

The current global pandemic has made it clear the importance of taking care of both our physical and mental wellbeing, which makes Global Wellness Day more relevant than ever. Founded in 2012 by Belgin Aksoy, a Turkish industry professional with more than 25 years of experience, the annual celebration hosts panels, discussions, and demonstrations on the tenets of health and wellness.

This year, Global Wellness Day will be celebrated on June 13 with a 24-hour live stream of various wellness-focused events, including cooking classes, Muay Thai exercises, dance demonstrations, and education on nutrition. Guests include singer Reba McEntire, New York Times bestselling author and former NSYNC member Lance Bass, celebrity chef Matthew Kenney, and former NBA basketball player Ombri Casspi, who will all focus on dispensing knowledge on ways viewers can improve their mental and physical health. “The inception of Global Wellness Day was planted into my heart during my radio-iodine therapy isolation days at the hospital in 2004,” says Aksoy. “If Global Wellness Day was born in my nine isolation days at the hospital, imagine all the jewels that are going to come out of all those doors that were closed during quarantine across the globe. Although Global Wellness Day lasts for 24 hours our message is intended to last a lifetime.”

Participants will be able to watch the celebration free of charge through Global Wellness Day’s YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
